Simon Harrysson started coding as a teenager, now he builds AI tools for the future of recruitment

While most of his peers were playing computer games, Simon Harrysson was writing code. At 14 he published an app on the App Store. But it is not the technology that drives him.

Building a product is really the easy part. The hard part is understanding people's problems and creating something they actually want to use.

Simon, 23, comes from Stockholm and is in his fourth year of the computer engineering programme at Linköping University, where he is doing a master with a focus on machine learning. Alongside his studies he has worked as a developer at Vembla, VadViVet and TaxiCaller, among others.

Simon is one of eight young entrepreneurs selected for Talent Venture Labs.

Together with his team he is building EduFindr.eu, a digital platform that makes it easier for students to find the right education. Today, information about programmes, admission requirements, tuition fees and living costs is often scattered across thousands of universities. EduFindr.eu gathers it in one place and helps students compare the alternatives ahead of one of the most important decisions of their lives.

Choosing an education affects several years of your life. It should be far easier to understand what options actually exist.

Simon has plenty of international study experience himself. During upper secondary school he spent an exchange year in Washington in the United States, an experience that gave him new perspectives on both education and entrepreneurship. The combination of international experience, technical skill and a strong interest in AI has become the foundation of his entrepreneurial journey.

I always try to start with the user. If you solve a real problem, the technology almost takes care of itself.
